Hi everyone! Today is a big day! My new release of stamps and stencils is here! This is the collection of stamps that has always been in my mind to create: 100% tea related! ESC03 and PS051 were already a hint (tea import / map related). You can tell tea has a place in my heart when you read my blog header ends like “… all accompanied by a cup of tea”. I can’t picture a better crafting time than spending it with stamps, inks, tools, inspiration and a cup of tea with a warm teapot by my side to keep the taste entertained while my hands and my mind are working on what I love. And a scone with strawberry preserve and butter (even better with clotted cream, if I’m lucky to find it) will be also welcome to the crafty party. So let’s the party begin!

Hola a todos! Hoy es un gran día! Mis nuevos sellos y estenciles están aquí! Esta es la colección que siempre había querido crear: 100% relacionada con el mundo del té! Los que me conocéis sabéis que té ocupa un rincón especial para mí. Así que sólo era cuestión de tiempo que esta colección se materializara. El sello ESC03 y el estencil a juego PS051 de mi primera colección ya eran una pequeña pista hacia esta temática (uno relacionado con mapas de navegación y el otro relacionado con la importación del té). Si os fijáis en la cabecera de mi blog (que acaba así “… all accompanied by a cup of tea” / “… todo acompañado con una taza de té), el té siempre ha estado ahí. Una tarde es perfecta para mí cuando estoy creando en mi mesa, rodeada de tintas, papeles, inspiración y una taza de té (si además nos acompañan un par de scones y mermelada de fresa, la tarde es todavía mejor). Pues sin mas dilación, que empiece la fiesta!

I can say I collect stamps but I think I can also say I collect tea-related things. I don’t have more vintage teacups and teapots because we don’t have more space at home (and I have few more waiting for me in Spain), I love them all but now I only allow myself to collect teas, and even with that I’m running out of room for them too. I may have 75+ varieties of tea and, as it happens with crafting tools and inks, although you have many, you end up most of the time using the top favourites. In the crafting world, I always end up with Infusions or distress inks and in the tea world, I end up with a variety of earl grey among my top favourite 3 teas.

After reading Marie Kondo books, I knew I had to get rid of some teas and only keep those that I love and that spark joy on me, so I decided that instead of keeping them in labeled boxes and unattended, I would do a final taste on them and decide wether I keep them or not. And I would do something special for that process: I would do a Tea Journal! Or you can call it an Art Journal about tea. And I would go through each tea, brew a teapot for me to drink it, smell it, do some journaling about it (where I got it, what was special, maybe I even have a picture that reminds me about it), use the tea itself to colour my pages, to add texture, save a couple of doses in the Journal (for a future re-taste) and then decide if I let it go or if I keep it. It will obviously take me ages (unless I did one a day, which I don’t think it will be the case), but I think I will enjoy the journey a lot, even if it becomes a never-ending task…

So for this quest I needed tea stamps. Since I have a nice collection of teapots and tea cups I thought that it would be great to draw them so we can all enjoy them. This is a picture of the real china elements I have turned into stamps now. These have become plain cups and teapots, so you can add or doodle the pattern of your choice if you don’t want them plain:

Here are the stamps, where I’ve also added some scanned laces and ribbon from my stash and also some other hand drawn elements by me like the spoon, buttons, etc. as well as other vintage images from old books:

And as always, I pair these with some stencils that I like to handrawn as well and you can use to add backgrounds, titles and texture to your projects.

As you’ve seen, the stamps include some quotes, so you can create nice plain and simple cards:

or more complex detailed cards:

But they also include other elements perfect for snail mail:

Or for Art journaling and mixed media, either in a shabby chic / vintage look:

You can stack the cups after a bit of fuzzy cutting for a nice tag (here I used the new PaperArtsy Fresco paints designed by Courtney Franich):

A bit more of fuzzy cutting will get you a spoon that can actually hold stuff (like fake sugar here), you just need to work out the paper:

And of course, they can be used to create some home decor too, like these coasters, where the fronts are stamped and coloured while the backs have been stencilled. I love the front parts but the backs have conquered my heart too!

COLECCION JULIO 2018 – TEA TIME!

Creo que puedo decir que colecciono sellos pero también puedo decir que colecciono cosas del mundo del té. No tengo más tazas ni teteras antiguas porque ya no me queda sitio en casa (y tengo algunas más en Barcelona que me están esperando en una caja…las echo de menos…). Me encantan todas pero me he puesto un tope y ya sólo me permito coleccionar tés, y aún y así, aunque ocupen menos, ya estoy empezando a quedarme sin espacio para ellos también. Igual tengo 75 o más variedades de té pero como pasa con las cosas que usamos en scrap, aunque tengas muchas herramientas, tintas, etc, acabas usando siempre las favoritas y el resto queda un poco en el olvido. En el caso de las manualidades, en mi top entran las infusions y las tintas distress y en el mundo de los tés me quedaría con una de las 3 variedades de Earl Grey que son mis favoritas.

Después de leer los libros de Marie Kondo (La magia del Orden y Spark Joy) supe que tenía que librarme de algunos tés y quedarme sólo aquellos que me encanten y me traigan alegría, así que en lugar de tenerlos en cajas etiquetadas y olvidados como hasta ahora, haría una cata final y decidiría si se quedan en mi colección o si los dejo ir. Pero haría algo especial para recordar este proceso: un Tea Journal! Un cuaderno de té o sobre tés. Iría dedicándome a un té cada vez, prepararía una tetera para tomarlo, olerlo, escribir sobre él (dónde lo compré, qué tiene de especial, quizás añadiría una foto que me recordase a él), utilizaría el té para dar color a la página, para añadir texturas, y me guardaría un par de dosis en el cuaderno para una cata futura y entonces decidiría si se queda o si se va. Me va a costar la vida hacer esto con la de tés que tengo, pero seguro que disfruto el camino, aunque se convierta en una tarea sin fin…

Así que para este reto necesitaba sellos de tés. Como tengo una colección de tazas y teteras en casa que me encantan, pensé que estaría bien dibujarlas a mano y así que todo el mundo (no sólo yo) pudiese disfrutar de ellas de una forma u otra. Estas de la foto son de las que se han convertido en sellos. Las he dejado sin flores para que cada uno las dibuje o añada motivos como quiera:

Y estos son los sellos. He añadido también algunas cintas y puntillas que he escaneado y algunos otros elementos dibujados a mano (cuchara, botones, etc) y además he añadido algunas imágenes antiguas de libros por aquí y por allí. Mucho collage, mucho trabajo pero muy satisfecha al final… qué opinas vosotros?

Y como siempre, mis sellos también vienen acompañados de estenciles que también dibujo a mano. Me gusta poder crear fondos con ellos y añadir títulos y texturas a los proyectos.

Como habéis visto, los sellos incluyen algunas frases, con las que podéis crear tarjetas sencillas:

o dedicarle más tiempo y añadir muchos más detalles en tarjetas más elaboradas:

Como hay tantas tazas tan diferentes, podéis recortarlas y montarlas una encima de otra, como he hecho en esta tag donde he usado las nuevas pinturas de PaperArtsy Fresco diseñadas por Courtney Franich):

Y si os animáis a seguir recortando, podéis crear una cuchara que guarde cosas de verdad, como el falso azúcar de aquí, sólo hay que trabajarla un poquito y parecerá en 3D!

Y por supuesto se pueden crear elementos de decoración para el hogar, como estos posavasos tan monos! Me encanta la parte de delante donde he estampado las imágenes, pero no sé si me gustan más las partes de atrás, donde he hecho un stencil muy sencillo pero muy resultón. Love them!

Pero entre otros proyectos, me gustaría enseñaros la hoja que he creado para mi primer tea journal, que aún lo tengo a medias, porque estoy decidiendo el formato que tendrá.
