Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing with you a shaker card that I did for two of my best friends in London, Erik and Valentino, who got married “recently” (it was recent at the time I made the card, but I didn’t have time to edit the video until now). They are into fashion and since apparently flamingos were “all over the place” according to one of them at that time, I decided to include them as my focal point. In that way, if they decided to keep the card, they would remember the time when they got married. I hope you like it! Enjoy! 🙂

Hoy os voy a enseñar la tarjeta (una shaker card – si la agitas se mueve lo que hay dentro de la ventana) que les hice a dos de mis mejores amigos en Londres, Erik y Valentino, que se casaron “hace poco” (al menos hacía poco que se casaron cuando hice la postal, pero hasta ahora no he tenido tiempo de editar el video).  Están en el mundo de la moda y como por lo visto, según Valentino, los flamencos estaban por todas partes por entonces, decidí incluir un par de ellos como punto focal de la tarjeta y que así recordaran en qué época se casaron cuando viesen la tarjeta al cabo de unos años. I was very happy for Valentino and Erik to get married, so I prepared this card accompanying the wedding present. I wanted it to have clear tones and I wanted it to include the flamingos as the main characters of the card.

I had wanted to try a technique that I saw long time ago from Gina K (in her YouTube channel Stamp TV) which consisted of painting your own brads with alcohol markers, giving them many layers until you get the colour you want. From that idea I came across to this other idea: what if instead of painting them with markers, I would paint them with inks and then apply an embossing on top? That is how I managed to get my own brads in any colour and with any metallic finish (copper, silver) based on the supplies you already have and using just normal brads (stationary ones). In this way you wouldn’t need to buy brads in every single colour and you can get a brad matching 100% the colour of one of the inks you already have and use both the new brad and the ink in the same project for a perfect combination.

These are the brads that I created by way of testing:

I wanted to show you the detail on all of them, so you can see what can you do with regular brads and get them completely transformed (at least in colour):

One of the things that I’ll show you in today’s video is how to create brads using one of those embossing techniques (these brads are in pink colour but you can use any ink you have).

You will also see how to create your own background using inks and paper as a guide (I created the sun and the sea).

And finally, you’ll see how to create a shaker card for which I used golden hearts confetti that I had for a while and I wanted to try how those shake.

PINK FLAMINGOS – SHAKER CARD – FEBRUARY 2016

Me hacía mucha ilusión que Valentino y Erik se casasen, así que para acompañar al regalo de bodas, les hice esta postal, que quería que fuese en tonos claros y que tuviese los flamencos como estrellas principales.

Hacía mucho tiempo que quería probar de hacer una técnica que aprendí al ver un vídeo de Gina K (en su canal de YouTube, stamp TV) que consistía en pintar brads (encuadernadores) con rotuladores (markers) y darles varias capas hasta conseguir el color que quisieras. De esa idea, me surgió otra: y si en lugar de pintarlos con markers, los entintaba con tintas y les aplicaba un embossing? Pues así conseguí hacer mis propios brads en cualquier color o con acabados en metálico (cobre, plata, etc) partiendo de unos encuadernadores normales y de tus propios materiales. Así no tienes que comprarte brads de todos los colores y puedes conseguir un color que coincida al 100% con la tinta que tengas y que puedas usar los dos en el mismo proyecto para que combinen.

Estos son los que hice de prueba

Aquí os muestro el detalle de estos brads para que veáis que brads normales se pueden transformar en brads de colores, completamente distintos del original:

Una de las cosas que os enseño en el vídeo de hoy, es cómo crear dos brads usando la técnica de embossing (estos son en color rosa, pero podéis usar la tinta que queráis).

Otra de las cosas que os enseño es crear vuestros propios fondos con tintas (en este caso hago un sol y el mar).

Y finalmente podéis ver cómo se construye una shaker card (una tarjeta interactiva, con una ventana con cositas dentro y que si la agitas lo que hay dentro se mueve) en la que usé un confeti de corazones dorados que quería estrenar.
